Happenings from around the gymnastics world for the first week in December

A. Men's NCAA Pre-Season Begins


This weekend, NCAA teams from around the country will showcase their talent at pre-season intrasquads. Neutral Deductions has a master calendar of all posted meets with video streams where available.

B. German Bundesliga Final


KTV Straubenhardt took the Deutsche Turnliga Finale title ahead of TV Wetzgau in a final score of 48 - 17. The winning team's roster was filled with top German stars like Lukas Dauser, Nick Klessing, Nils Dunkel, Pascal Brendal, and Andreas Brettschneider as well as Canadian, Felix Dolci and Ukrainian Illia Kovtun.




C. European Gymnastics Votes against the return of Russian and Belarusian Athletes


While the International Federation made provisions for Russian and Belarusian athletes to return to competition next year, the General Assembly of European Gymnastics voted against allowing athletes to return.Accordingly, many believe that this will remove any avenue for athletes from Russia and Belarus to earn an individual spot for the Paris Olympic Games.





D. European Gymnastics Online Test Event


As more entities search for ways to make virtual gymnastics meets possible, European Gymnastics trialed an online competition for pommel horse, parallel bars, and horizontal bar.


Italy's Edoardo De Rosa won pommel horse and parallel bars and Ukraine's Radomyr Stelmakh won horizontal bar. The competition was in partnerships with Elevien, and gymnastics meet app.




E. Nazar Chepurnyi Awarded "Honored Master of Sports"

2023 World Vault Medalist, Nazar Chepurnyi has been awarded Honored Master of Sports of Ukraine. This award was previously awarded to other gymnasts including Illia Kovtun (2021).





F. Illia Kovtun Underwent Surgery
