The vault final at the 2024 Olympic Games has concluded and Carlos Yulo (PHI) has won his second individual gold medal at the games.

Vault is a notoriously unpredictable apparatus. This has been true during the Paris Olympics. Nazar Chepurnyi was the top-qualifier into the vault final with a 14.833 total score. Due in small part to key upgrades from Yulo and Hepworth and largely to higher execution scores across the board, that score would have placed seventh in the final.

The competition was tight, with just over two tenths separating 1st and 6th place finishers. But at the end of the day, Yulo walked away with his second gold medal of the games–the third ever Olympic gold for the Philippines. Notably, he did one of two 6.0 start value vaults in the competition and came out on top.
