The 2024 Paris Olympic Games Team Final has finished and Japan has become the new Olympic Champion, gaining their eighth Olympic team gold medal. People’s Republic of China has earned the silver medal. Rounding out the podium, the United States of America has earned the bronze, attaining their first Olympic podium finish since 2008.

China entered the competition as the top qualifier to the final, as well as the reigning Olympic bronze medalists and World silver medalists, followed by reigning Olympic silver medalists and World gold medalists Japan. Reigning world bronze medalists, the United States, qualified in fifth.

Throughout the competition, China and Japan remained top contenders. Each counted falls, but in the end Japan was able to clinch the win with just over a half-point lead–the value of a handful of small errors.

The race for bronze was tight, but the United States improved greatly on their qualification score and stayed calm looking down the barrel of a historic medal, hitting all eighteen routines in the competition. Less than a point separated Great Britain and Ukraine for their fourth and fifth place finishes. The United States ended their competition on a hit routine from 2021 pommel horse world champion Stephen Nedoroscik, which helped secure their podium placement.

The final competition took place at Bercy Arena in Paris, France, along the river Seine. The men’s gymnastics competition will resume on July 31 with the All-Around final. A full schedule of the medal events is available in the Neutral Deductions Olympic Watch Guide.
