The 2024 Paris Olympic Games Pommel Horse Final has concluded and Ireland’s Rhys McClenaghan, reigning Pommel Horse World Champion, has become the new Olympic champion. Narimon Kurbanov from Kazakhstan earned a silver and the United States of America’s Stephen Nedoroscik earned a bronze to round out the podium.

The pommel horse final was stacked with the three most recent world champions all competing. (McClenaghan for 2022 and 2023, Nedoroscik for 2021, and Whitlock for 2019)

Additionally, Max Whitlock was aiming to get a historic three-peat Olympic gold on the apparatus.

Though Whitlock fell short of his goal, the podium was monumental for other reasons. McClenaghan and Kurbanov earned the first-ever Olympic medals in gymnastics for Ireland and Kazakhstan respectively. Nedoroscik became the first United States man to win an individual medal in artistic gymnastics since the 2016 Olympics.
