On high bar, there are four element groups that gymnasts need to include in their routines. The first is long hang swing elements, the second is slight elements, the third are elements close to the bar, and the fourth is a dismount. High bar is also only one of two men's events where gymnasts can get connection bonus for connecting elements.




So let's start with long hang swings. Long hang swings are the most basic component of any high bar routine, and they can be performed with or without turns. The most common long hang element is called a giant, where the gymnast swings his body around the bar, and it's rated at an A, meaning it's worth 0.1.


But there are four other very common types of long hang swings. The one armed giant, the Zou Li Min , the Quast, and the Rybalko.
