FIG Increases Delegation Size for the 2025 World Gymnastics Championships

Six MAG Athletes Will Now Be Able To Compete

December 16, 2024

On December 16, 2024, the Internatinoal Federation of Gymnastics approved a proposal to increase the delegation size for the 2025 World Gymnastics Championships from three to six. The proposal was brought by Arturs Mickevics ( a member of the men's technical committee) who felt strongly that the Apparatus World Championship should return to the previous format where delegations consisted of six male athletes.

The previous format for the 2025 Championships in Jakarta, Indonesia was for three male athletes per delegation with a maximum of two athletes competing per event. This would have seriously limited the amount of all-around athletes able to compete. Now, delegations will be able to submit three athletes per event in qualifications.
