2025 WEST POINT OPEN

The 2025 NCAA season started off with a bang as Ohio State gymnast, Kameron Nelson shocked the world with a floor routine containing two triple back saltos.

That floor routine helped propel Nelson to second place in the all-around where he alongside teammate, Drake Andrews, secured spots to compete at the 2025 Winter Cup in Louisville, Kentucky. Ohio State ended up winning the West Point Open, however, the results of the meet were not available for nearly an hour following the meet. Following the fourth rotation, the scoring system went down meaning athletes chose to sit around watching football waiting for the scores to be tabulated. The final team results were

  1. Ohio State - 315.800

  2. Penn State - 312.750

  3. Navy - 309.500

  4. Army - 308.300

  5. William & Mary - 300.450

  6. Springfield - 300.050

Michigan opened their season with a win at home against #14 Greenville and #15 Simpson. They nearly swept the event podium claiming all event titles with the exception of floor. The Wolverine started slowly on floor never breaking the 13.00 mark; however, they rallied to finish strong including sweeping the podium on high bar. Olympians Frederick Richard and Paul Juda did not compete.

Greenville's lone event title win came on floor from Jaxon Clapper. Simpson athletes were able to break onto the podium on floor (Jake Smith - 2T) and parallel bars (Alex Catchpole - 3T).
